The best way to help protect yourself and others from flu is to have the flu jab every year. Over time, protection gradually decreases and flu strains can change, which means a previous flu jab may not protect you from this year’s strains.

You can get the free NHS flu vaccine after the 3rd of October if you:

* are aged 65 or over

* have certain long-term health conditions

* are pregnant

* live in a care home

* are the main carer for an older or disabled person, or receive a carer's allowance

* live with someone who has a weakened immune system

Frontline health and social care workers can also get a flu vaccine through their employer.

You may be offered a COVID-19 vaccine if you:

* are aged 75 or over

* or Immunosuppressed
